| Alice goes to Hollywood | 06.12.2k |
American McGee’s Alice – the EA action game that has the industry buzzing – is headed to the big screen. McGee tells Well Rounded Entertainment that after 10 months of negotiations, Dimension Films has committed to make a film version of McGee’s “Dark Wonderland.” And judging by the talent already attached to the project, Dimension has high hopes for this one.
Wes Craven (Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3) has signed on to direct. And John August (Go, Charlie’s Angels) is writing the script, with a first draft due in January. (The story will go pretty much hand-in-hand with the game’s plot.) Collision Entertainment will co-produce with McGee.

| notes for playing Alice update :: Peter Mack’s .plan | 06.12.2k |
Joystick support is in there, but didn’t get tested enough before we shipped to make it as a “supported” feature.
- pull down the console
- type in: in_joystick 1
- type in: in_restart
If your joystick is recognized by Windows/DirectX, it should work fine.
Also, SMP support is not in there at this time. If enough people ask for it, we may add it in a patch. |

If you’re playing the Alice demo and have a Matrox G400, you may be having problems with the menus and game screens showing up. If you see a black screen with grey squares after the logo animations end, you’ve got this problem.
You can fix this by changing the following entry in your config.cfg file. It’s in the demo or base directory where you installed Alice. Change the value in the following line from 0 to 1. The game should work fine at that point.
set r_ext_compiled_vertex_array "1"
This problem will also appear in the full version of Alice. The workaround is the same. A future version of the Matrox drivers should address this issue.
There are also reports of low framerates using G400’s. If you’re having problems with this, email me with details. |
