Black & White scooped six PC Game of the Year Awards out of a possible eight, at last weeks’ ECTS, which was held at the Excel Exhibition Centre in London. The awards were voted by the readers of magazines in Benelux (Power Unlimited), Eastern Europe (CD Action), Germany (PC Games), Italy (KwVideogiochi.it) Scandinavia (PC Hemma) and Spain (Solo Juegos.com).|
The awards were collected by Managing Director Peter Molyneux, who spoke for everyone at Lionhead saying, “We value readers awards more than any others, because they are voted for by the people who buy and play our games. We were thrilled with the critical reaction of the press to the game and are also delighted with sales to date, but in the end it is the opinions of gamers which mean the most to us.”
Sales of Black & White continue to grow and are rapidly approaching the two million-mark worldwide. The game is still in the PC Top Twenty in the US, Germany and UK, some six months after it’s release.
Lionhead satellite Black & White Studios is currently working on a mini sequel to Black & White, Creature Isle, that will feature over 30 new challenges, plus the opportunity for players’ creatures to meet a mate and have a child. The studio will also be working on Black & White Next Generation (PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions), although the game will be totally redesigned to maximise its playability on these platforms.
The Team at Lionhead wants to say “Thank You!” to everybody who voted for Black & White and therefore for Lionhead.
Lionhead Studios has just started work on its next original title, but at this stage is not releasing any further details on this project.
