• In the upcoming Expansion Set, you journey to the Barbarian Highlands of the North, following Baal, the last surviving Prime Evil.
• The Expansion is due to be released in the first half of 2001, for both Windows and Mac, at an expected price of $30.
• Features

• Two new character classes, the Assassin and the Druid, each with 30 unique skills/spells.

• The Character Screen has several enhancements.
• Displays total chance to block, which is now dependent on Dexterity.
• Maximum Resistances are now listed in gold.
• Weapon damage is listed in different colours depending on which elemental attack is on the weapon.
• Statistics are listed for the last monster targeted by the player.
• The Party Screen no longer allows looting for non-Hardcore players.
• The Vendor Screen now has an option to Repair All equipped items with a single click.
• The Hireling Screen allows players to see hireling stats and equip them with items.
• Items
• Class-specific Items :: Each class will have class-specific items, usable only by that class.
• Amazons will have bows, spears and javelins.
• Necromancers will have Mummified Trophies, a new type of shield.
• Sorceress will have Orbs, which offers bonuses to Sorceress skills smiliar to staves, but can be worn with a shield.
• Assassins will have Katars, a new class of weapons.
• Druids will have Spirit Mask helms.
• Elite Items :: A higher grade of items beyond exceptional items, Elite items can only be found on Hell Difficulty.
• Circlets :: A new form of helm, circlets allow characters to look “hatless” while still wearing protective headwear. They also have magical attributes not typically available on helms.
• Throwing Weapons :: Throwing weapons can now be Magic, Rare and Unique. Their quantity can be replenished by repairing them at the Vendors.
• Unique Items :: Unique items now have Exceptional variants.
• Set Items :: Set items now offer partial magic bonuses for two or more pieces of the set.
• Socketed Items :: Magical items can now have sockets. In addition to gems, players can now socket runes or jewels. Rare items will have no more than one socket, new set and unique items may have more than one.
• Runes :: You can create your own Unique Items using Runes Sets. When a set of Runes is placed in a Socketed Item with the correct number of sockets and in the correct order, the item takes on the properties of the Rune Set.
• Jewels :: Similar to gems, they can be inserted into socketed items. Unlike gems, jewels contain magical attributes.
• Charms :: Charms held in a character’s inventory grant additional magical properties – at the cost of space. Charms do not work in the Horadric Cube or Stash.
• Crafted Items :: Crafted Items can only be created in the Horadric Cube. Similar to rare items, they have random attributes, but they also have fixed special bonuses that do not normally appear as magical bonuses on items.
• Ethereal Items :: A new magic attribute, Ethereal items exist only partially on the mortal plane of existence, making them translucent to the eye. Ethereal weapons will do more damage then their normal counterparts, while Ethereal armor has an increased defense. While they typically have full durability when found, they cannot be repaired.
• Charged Items :: A new magic attribute, Charged items contain skills and spells of other classes. You can recharge them by repairing them at a Vendor.

• Hirelings can now be resurrected when killed, and can travel across Acts.
