Items
Rarity
- Items drop with the following prevalence :
- Low Quality
- Normal
- Superior
- Magic
- Rare & Set (equal rarity)
- Unique
- Low Quality – Normal – Superior items scale according to your level. The higher level you are, the less Low Quality items you will find.
- A Unique Monster will always drop a magic item.
- A Champion will drop either a magic item or gold.
Normal Items
- Low Quality items (Cracked, Crude, Damaged or Low Quality) items have a lower Maximum Durability than normal items.
- Superior armour can have improved Defense and/or Durability.
- Superior weapons can have improved Chance to Hit, Damage and/or Durability.
Exceptional Items
- Exceptional items are found only on the Nightmare and Hell Difficulty Levels.
- Exceptional items have higher Level, Strength and Dexterity requirements than their normal counterparts.
- Exceptional armour has higher Defense.
- Exceptional weapons have higher Minimum and Maximum Damage. Weapons that add to skill points have higher level skills/spells on them.
- There are no Set or Unique Exceptional items.
- These items have Socketed, Magic and Rare versions.
- Exceptional items can be imbued after you have completed the Hammer of Malus Quest.
Misc.
- Rings and Amulets have differing artwork. This has no effect upon the item’s effect. Two same Unique rings may have different artwork.
- Normal and exceptional items may be Socketed.
- Throwing Weapons, including Javelins, have no magical or socketed versions.
Magic Items
- The names of magic items highlight in blue.
- Magic items can have up to two attributes, one prefix and/or one suffix.
- When a magic item drops the chances of its attributes are :
- Suffix-only : 50%
- Prefix-only : 25%
- Both Prefix and Suffix : 25%
- Drops : The formula for selecting an attribute is qlvl <= ilvl + 2, selected from those attributes that can occur on the item being dropped.
- qlvl = the level of the attribute, ilvl = the level of the monster
- Gambling : The level of the attribute is a random value in the range of character level -6 to +3.
- An item with an attribute level of 50 will be available to characters from level 44 to level 53. The higher your level, the higher chance there is for more powerful items.
Rare Items
- Rare Item Names
- The names of rare items highlight in yellow.
- The names of rare items are random and not connected to their powers (which are also random).
- Rare items contain between one to six attributes, generally between four to six.
- There will never be more than three prefixes or three suffixes on the same rare.
- An attribute will never be picked more than once.
- Only one prefix or suffix will be picked per prefix or suffix group. For example, if an item has +2 to Light Radius (prefix Glowing) it will not have +1 to Light Radius (prefix Glimmering), though it still may have a bonus to Light Radius from a suffix (Light, Radiance or the Sun). The skills group is an exception, so you may find bonus to Skills for two diffirent classes on the same item.
- The chance for which attributes appear on an item are the same for magic item drops/gambles.
Set Items
- Set Item List
- The names of set items highlight in green.
- Each set item will list the other items in its set, highlighting the ones you already have.
- Equipping an entire set bestows additional powers beyond those granted by individual items in the set.
Unique Items
- Unique Item List
- The names of unique items highlight in gold.
- These items have fixed attributes.
- Unique items do not have level requirements.
- A Unique item will not be generated if it already exists in a given game. Do not Gamble or search for a particular unique item if you or another character in the game you are in already has that item.
| Definition | Effect |
| Fortune | n% Better Chance of Getting Magic Item. This ability is commonly misunderstood. It works like this; If you have an item that gives you a 10% Better Chance of Getting Magic Item, and a Monster normally has a 2% chance to drop a Magic item, that chance now becomes 2.1%. Thus, with 100% Better Chance of Getting Magic Item, you double your chances for a Magical Item drop. This ability affects Magic, Rare, Set, Unique and Exceptional items in Nightmare/Hell. It does not help with Chests or other non-monster item drops, the Barbarian Find Item Skill, or Gambling. In a Party, the chance of a drop is determined by the character making the killing blow. Other characters with Fortune items will not affect the chance of a drop. |
| Crushing Blow | Chance of reducing a monster’s life by 50% in a single blow. |
| Deadly Strike | Chance of dealing Double Damage. This bonus is applied after skills such as Critical Strike and any other damage bonuses. With Critical Strike and Deadly Strike, you can do up to four times your damage with each hit. |
| Hit Blinds Target | Like the Necromancer Curse, Dim Vision, this ability decreases a monster’s radius of awareness. This ability does not work with ranged attacks. |
| Open Wounds | Chance of making a monster bleed, causing them to lose life as long as they do so. |
| Triumphant | +n Mana After Each Kill. Unlike Mana Steal items, this ability will work with elemental attack spells, proving especially valuable to the Sorceress. You do not gain mana if the killing blow was delivered by a minion. |
| Vulpine | n% Damage taken Goes to Mana. You will regain mana based on how much damage you receive (eg. if you receive 10 damage, you will gain 1 mana). You do not gain mana if your minions are damaged. |
| Life Steal | n% Life/Mana Stolen Per Hit. You will regain life/mana based on how much damage you deal (eg. if you deal 10 damage with 10% Mana Steal, you will gain 1 mana). This only applies to physical melee or ranged attacks. You will not regain life/mana from elemental attacks or from damage dealt by a minion. |

Imbue Item
- Charsi will imbue an item for you when you complete the Tools of the Trade Quest.
- As you can only claim the reward once per difficulty level, you may wish to save your imbue for later.
- The stats/quality of the base item is irrelevant as the item is only used to decide what type of rare item will result.
- The rare item created has its attributes set at Character Level +4, so higher level characters will get better results from imbuing.
