Containing some 40 separate orchestral tracks, Black Isle Studios’ Icewind Dale set the standard for game music last year. Individually, the selections are exceptionally effective in helping to set the differing moods for the game's various locations and situations. Collectively, they stand out for their broad range, sometimes bold and stirring, sometimes ominously impending, occasionally peaceful and much more. In an area where the industry is showing rapid and significant improvement, the music Icewind Dale builds on the already impressive record of Black Isle Studios, fully meriting this Award.
