Arrest the target person. Those arrested serve a mandatory seven year jail term, and can’t cause trouble in jail. However, arresting someone will dramatically lower their respect for El Presidente, and to a lesser degree, will lower the respect their family has for you. It will also reduce respect slightly among all citizens who see the arrest (within 10 cells of the arrest location), more so if the arrest attempt leads to a shootout. They’re throwing me in the slammer! If used against an election opponent – “Opponent’s supporters are outraged at her arrest! It appears you have only strengthened the hand of your opponents.” |

Pay an individual a $1,000 bribe to a targeted person. This will raise the bribed person’s respect for you (and to a modest degree, will also favorably impact their family’s respect for you.) The effects wear off gradually over 3 years. You can always re-bribe someone at any point, though second bribe shortly after a first will have a lesser effect. El Presidente has just given me a fat ‘consulting fee’. Nice. A big fat wad of cash from El Presidente. I like it. |

Publicly label the target as a heretic. The targeted individual will be shunned by the rest of society, unable to lead an uprising or coup, or to protest against the government. The heretic CAN join an existing uprising or coup, or become a rebel. The heretic’s respect for El Presidente will plunge, and to a lesser extent, the heretic’s family will also lose respect for El Presidente A heretic label lasts for the individual’s entire lifetime, and is irreversible. I’m branded a heretic! I guess they saw me sleep in church. If used against an election opponent – “Opponent’s supporters are outraged that you’ve branded her as a heretic! It appears you have only strengthened the hand of your opponents. |

| Cost :: $500 Duration :: Permanent (Family and bystander effect declines over time) Requirements :: Guard Station | When a lengthy jail term is insufficient, soldiers can be dispatched to terminate an individual. The target can flee or fight back. This edict dramatically lowers respect for El Presidente among the target’s extended family. It will also repulse those who see it occur – reducing respect for El Presidente substantially for all citizens within 10 cells of the elimination location. This edict should only be used as a last resort – beware the consequences… If used against an election opponent – “Opponent’s supporters are outraged that your men have killed her! Surely someone else will run against you. |
