| Compassion | Only a detested life owes its pleasures to another’s pain. |
| Honesty | A dishonest life brings unto thee temporary gain, but forsakes the permanent. |
| Valor | Those who fear to try, know not their limits and thus know not themselves. |
| Justice | Those who inflict injustice upon others, cannot expect fair treatment unto themselves. |
| Sacrifice | None live alone, save they who will not share their fortune with those around them. |
| Honor | It is the guilt, not the guillotine, that constitutes the shame. |
| Spirituality | To forsake one’s inner being is to abandon thy hopes for thyself and thy world. |
| Humility | Pride is a vice, which Pride itself inclines one to find in others, and overlook in oneself. |
The Virtues of Lord Blackthorn
During the reign of Lord Blackthorn, whilst Lord British was imprisoned in the underworld by the Shadowlords, the virtues were twisted into the following form.
| | Corruption |
| Compassion | Thou shalt help those in need, or thou shalt suffer the same need. |
| Honesty | Thou shalt not lie, or thou shalt lose thy tongue. |
| Valor | Thou shalt fight to the death, or thou shalt be banished as a coward. |
| Justice | Thou shalt confess thy crimes and suffer just punishment, or thou shalt be put to death. |
| Sacrifice | Thou shalt donate half thy income to charity, or thou shalt have no income. |
| Honor | If thou dost lose thine Honor, thou shalt take thine own life. |
| Spirituality | Thou shalt enforce the laws of virtue, or thou shalt die as a heretic. |
| Humility | Thou shalt humble thyself to thy superiors, or thou shalt suffer their wrath. |
